The 4th MTBA Adaptive Mountain Biking Camp in Australian is hitting West Australia this September!

Enjoy 3 days and 2 nights in the West Australian bush for a relaxing, fully catered and family-friendly camping and handcycling experience.
Learn the basics of different equipment, try them yourself, learn how to tackle different trail features and slowly build up your confidence.
Learn where to get equipment from and different grant/funding opportunities in WA!
You'll be guided by two Mountain Bike Australia accredited coaches with the support of experienced handcycle volunteers.
Past participants had so much fun that they want to come back a second time! So we've introduced a second coach to take out the more experienced riders through more rugged trails.
It will be a cram-packed weekend, so throw on a helmet and get ready to tackle some Aussie dirt!




Target Audience

Everyone is welcome but the focus will be for people with physical or neurological disabilities that require adaptive cycles to participate in mountain biking and assistance with camping.

Experience Level

Beginners and experienced riders who would like to add a camping element to the outdoors experience! General fitness is required to push around the camp site.

Carer-Companion cost

FREE - up to one (1) companion, carer, family or friend. If you have opted for the meals option at an additional cost, your companion will also receive 2 FREE meals!

On-site Communal Amenities

The camping grounds in un-powered and has the following amenities included in your registration cost:

  • Heavy-duty rubber matting for main areas and tent entrances.
  • 1 x Self contained Cabin-lodge for high-needs participant.
  • 1 x 3m gazebo with privacy walls.
  • 4 x Tents with queen bedding (reserved for people unable to secure personal equipment). Please indicate during registration.

  • 1 x Gas-heated outdoor shower (sheltered).
  • 1 x Heated shower at cabin.
  • 1 x Standard portable toilets (compost).
  • 2 x Accessible portable toilets.

  • Portable shower bench with backrest and rail (outdoor shower).

  • Gas BBQ and campfire for roasting marshmallows and bush tucka!
  • Dish wash facility with gazebo.
  • Kitchen utensils including cutlery, crockery, sink, kettle, stoves and gas BBQ.

  • Projector lighting for kitchen facilities.
  • 1 x communal large chest icebox.
  • Plastic tables and chairs.
  • Basic cutlery and crockery provided.


Participant requirements
  1. Must be 16 years and older. Supporters/family of any age are welcome. Under 18yo participants require parental/guardian permission and supervision.
  2. Read the Terms and Conditions carefully on the online registration.
  3. Complete the online registration and make any outstanding payments to MTBA.
  4. Check your email for confirmation. Get your gear ready and prepare for an awesome weekend away!
What you must bring...
  • Australian standard certified mountain bike helmet (see Helmet Policy when registering).
  • Linen including at least two (2) beach towels, hand/face towel, mattress covers/sheets, pillows and pillow covers.
  • Toiletries including shower gel/soap, wash cloth or similar, toothbrush and paste, personal hygiene products, self-care items and one (1) toilet roll.
  • Food, snacks and condiments.
  • Prescription medications, sun cream and bug repellent.
  • Drinking water and any preferred sports or soft drinks. Refillable sports drink bottle.
  • Headlamp and or torches and batteries/chargers.
  • Comfortable clothing suitable to the weather conditions at the time of Event. Slip-slop-slap if necessary!
What you should bring...
  • Cycling gloves (finger-less or full length).
  • Flexible elbow pads.
  • Your own tent and sleeping mattress. If you do not have one, please indicate during registeration.
  • Body/face wipes.
  • Food storage and containers – example, Eski or 12V electric fridge.
  • Cutlery (knives, forks, spoon) and crockery (plates, bowls, mugs).
  • Pots and pans – one (1) communal kitchen washing facility available.

The "Event" herein refers to, inclusive of the dates in the General Event Details and Schedule section, the Adaptive Mountain Biking Adventure Camp at Cycletrek, Lowden WA 2018

The "Participant" or "Participants" herein refers to any individual(s) over the age of 16 years who is registering to undertake coaching and guidance from Mountain Bike Australia affiliated coach and associated volunteers at and during the period of the Event.

The "Attendee" or "Attendees" herein refers to any individual(s) whom are present and permitted at the Event, in part of whole, and whom are not Participants, volunteers, hosts, land managers Officials, contractors or any other affiliate to the Event Organisers. Examples may include, carers, family members, children, partners or friends.

Event “Organisers" or "Officials" herein refers to any individual officially employed, associated, contracted, volunteering or affiliated with Mountain Bike Australia Ltd., Break the Boundary Inc., Camp Quaranup, CycleTrek, South West Mountain Bike Club Inc. and Albany Mountain Bike Club Inc.

Three (3) days of adaptive mountain biking coaching for beginners and guided rides for experienced riders in a friendly and comfortable environment.

Refer to the Event website for the Event schedule. Every effort will be made by Organisers to keep participants on the allocated start and finish times, however delays or changes may occur due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, equipment fault, changes in trail safety and participant needs.

Event Organisers reserve the right to change the Event schedule, in part or whole, without notice to participants and attendees, however best efforts will be made to inform participants and attendees of any major changes that may impact their enjoyment during the Event.

Participants and attendees are advised to check emails and the Event’s website for any changes in the schedule, prior to attending, to avoid any unexpected inconveniences.

Participants or attendees are required to inform the Event Officials and or Organisers, on site, if they require to leave the designated Event premises at any time during or between the above schedule.

All participants and attendees are required to bring the following personal items for their use during the Event:
• Australian standard certified mountain bike helmet (see Helmet Policy below).
• Linen including beach towels and hand/face towels.
• Toiletries including shower gel/soap, wash cloth or similar, toothbrush and paste, personal hygiene products, self-care items and one (1) toilet roll.
• Prescription medications, sun cream and bug repellent.
• Food, snacks and condiments - kitchenette and fridge available
• Drinking water and any preferred sports or soft drinks.
• Headlamp and or torches and batteries/chargers.
• Comfortable clothing suitable to the weather conditions at the time of Event.
• Shower cushions and shower thongs.
Participants with high-needs for toileting and showering should bring the following personal items for their use over the weekend:
• Shower chair.
• Toilet commode.
• Removable/suction hand rails or other supporting aids (non-weight bearing).
The event Organisers and Officials take no responsibility for any damage or loss of personal items. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless all Organisers and Officials of any damage or loss of personal items which you bring to the Event.

Each registered participant is permitted to attend with up to one (1) attendee as a companion, carer, family member at no additional cost during registration.
Attendees are subject to these terms, conditions and standards.
The Event Organisers, to their discretion, reserve the right to evict and escort from the camp grounds any attendees’ due to behaviour that is not in line with the Code of Conduct or in the spirit of the Event’s purpose.

The Event Organisers require participants and attendees to abide by the Code of Conduct during all times between the start and finish dates and times.
Participants and attendees shall adhere to the following code of conduct at all times during the Event:
• Follow all verbal and written instructions and requests given by MTBA personnel and coaches, land managers, evacuation marshals and emergency service personnel.
• Refrain from unnecessary dissension, displeasure or disapproval with Event Officials and Organisers decisions, rulings or instructions.
• Refrain from any form of abuse, harassment or discrimination towards others attending the Event.
• Treat people involved in the Event with courtesy, respect and have proper regard for their rights and obligations and respect the spirit of fair play and non-violence.
• Not denigrate or intimidate other participants, attendees, Officials or Event Organisers.
• Respect the reasonable privacy and space of other participants and attendees.
• Keep noise to a minimum after ‘lights-out’ as per Event schedule.
• Treat another person’s property with consideration and respect, ensuring to avoid conduct and behaviours which may adversely affect or damage others property or possessions.
• Respect and abide by the local customs of the hosts and land managers.
• Not make statements or take part or otherwise participate in demonstrations (whether verbally, in writing or by any other act or omission) regarding political, religious or racial matters or any such matters which are prejudicial to or contrary to the objects, purposes or interests of MTBA and Event Organisers.
• Behave at all times in a manner that upholds the highest standards of integrity and dignity so as not to bring the Event into disrepute.
• Be an ambassador and positively promote inclusion of others at all times.
• Refrain from smoking on camp grounds during the Event.
• Drink and behave responsibly when and where permitted by Organisers and land managers.
• Not attend, before or during the Event, in part or whole, in a condition impaired by alcohol or illicit drugs.
• Inform Organisers and Officials of any medical complications and conditions that impair their ability to participate and function in the Event’s activities.
• Provide and maintain their own form of personal injury insurance, either through MTBA or other associations or organisations.
To their discretion, the Event Organisers reserve the right to evict from the camp grounds any participants due to behaviour that is not in accordance with the Code of Conduct.

It is the policy for this Event that alcohol is strictly and only consumed on the designated camp grounds and by persons over the age of 18 years. Participants and attendees under the age or 18 years are strictly prohibited from being provided or supplied alcohol and prohibited from consuming alcohol at any time during the Event.
Event Organisers and Officials shall not provide or supply alcohol at the Event at any time, either in-kind or otherwise.
A zero-tolerance towards abuse, misconduct and aggressive or intimidating behaviour towards others of any sort will be adhered to at all times.
The Organisers and Officials of the Event reserve the right, and to their discretion, to eject and terminate any participation of persons who are not conducting themselves in accordance with these terms and conditions, and the Code of Conduct.

It is the policy of Mountain Bike Australia that helmets must be worn by all participants and attendees at all times when riding a bike or adaptive bike.
All participants, whether registered for coaching, support riding, assisting or taking part in the Event on any form of mountain bike, including adaptive mountain bikes, must wear a certified helmet to the following standard:
The list of standards that MTBA and Break the Boundary Inc. will accept as an international equivalent to the Australian/New Zealand Standard 2063 are as follows:
• NSI Z90.4.
• Snell “B” or “N” series.
• ASTM F-1447.
• Canadian CAN/CSA-D113.2- M.
• S. CPSC standard for bicycle helmets.
• European CEN standard for bicycle helmets (EN1078).
Other international standards may be added however if not explicitly listed above or in any supplementary regulations, are not permitted for use.
Any open face helmet meeting A82063 or any full faced helmet meeting AS2063 or helmets meeting AS2063 with detachable mouthpieces will be permitted.
Any use of visors shall be detachable from the helmet.
It is important to recognise that the Australian Standard A82063 is considered to be one of the toughest in the world to pass and thus it is requirement of participation that such helmets be used while operating a mountain bike (adaptive or otherwise).

By registering for the Event, I hereby acknowledge and agree to have my photos taken during the Event by the following parties:
• Mountain Bike Australia Officials, contractors and representatives.
• City of Albany and Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
• Event Organisers and volunteers.
• Public news and media associations - separate release form may be required.
• Other parties identified and communicated by Organisers during the Event.
I permit the above named to use any photograph(s), video recording(s) and or audio recording(s) therefrom and any other reproductions or adaptations therefrom, either complete or in part, alone or in conjunction with any wording and/or drawings for all uses including publicity and/or merchandising and/or editorial purposes in Australia.
I understand that I do not have any interest in the copyright to the photograph(s), video recording(s) and or audio recording(s) nor shall I receive any payment.
I acknowledge and agree that if at any time I chose not to have photos, audio or video recording of me taken and or published, I shall inform the Organisers at the earliest convenient time. Organisers and media personnel shall respect any requests by participants or attendees to not have photo, video and or audio recordings taken or distributed.


Cancellation by participant
Once registration payments have been made and completed, a full refund (minus a $10 administration fee) will be made if Organisers are informed in writing and with explanation prior to the Event and only in the following circumstances:
• You are medically and unforeseeably incapacitated.
• Your health unexpectedly and rapidly deteriorates from the time of registration.
• Family emergencies requiring immediate attention such as ill children.
• Sever illness or death of family, relatives or friends.
• You are ordered by medical or legal professionals to withdraw from the Event.
Other circumstances will be considered by MTBA and Organisers to their discretion.

Cancellation by Organiser
The Organiser and or MTBA, in its sole discretion, may delay, modify, or cancel the Event if it believes the conditions on the race day are or will be unsafe. If, the Event is delayed, modified, or cancelled for any reason, including but not limited to acts of God or the elements (including without limitation, wind, rough water, rain, hail, hurricane, tornado, earthquake), acts of terrorism, fire, threatened or actual strike, labour difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, course conditions, or any other cause beyond the control of the Organiser and or MTBA there shall be a 100% refund to any participant entry fees paid. There will be no payment for any other costs incurred by participants inoff connection with the Event.

The Organiser reserves the right to cancel a participants registration for the event if payment into the nominated Break the Boundary Inc. accounts have not been cleared within 14 days from the registration submission, or 2 days before the event start date, which ever is the lesser.

In consideration of Mountain Bike Australia Inc. (“MTBA”) accepting my participation in the West Australian Adaptive Mountain Biking Adventure Camp (Handcycling) sanctioned by MTBA (“the event”) which may involve a significant risk of physical harm, I agree to this release of claims, waiver of liability and assumption of risk. I am aware that mountain biking and it’s forms of adaptive mountain biking is a recreational activity which may involve, in addition to usual and inherent risks, personal injury, obvious risk, danger to myself, the possibility of injury and harm and physical exertion for which I may not be prepared, remoteness to normal medical service, weather extremes subject to sudden and unexpected change and evacuation difficulties if I am disabled or incapacitated.

I accept all of the inherent and obvious risks and that mountain biking is a dangerous recreational activity and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom. I acknowledge that the enjoyment and excitement of mountain biking is derived in part from the inherent risks incurred by the activity beyond the accepted safety of life at home or work and that these inherent risks contribute to such enjoyment and excitement being a reason for my participation.
I hereby release and forever discharge from all liability and agree not to sue MTBA and its officers, employees, coaches, volunteers, agents, contractors, public bodies, land holders and sponsors from any and all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, damages or proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any personal injury, death, property damage or loss sustained by me as a result of my participation in the event.

I hereby indemnify and hold harmless MTBA, its officers, agents, contractors and sponsors from and against all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, actions and proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any injury, loss or damage sustained by me or any injury, loss or damage suffered by any other person as a result of any act, omission, neglect or default on my part in connection with my participation in the event.

I further acknowledge and agree that:
1. If I suffer injury MTBA can arrange medical treatment and emergency evacuation services as MTBA deem essential for my safety and that I am responsible for those costs except to the extent provided for by MTBA.
2. The details of my injuries and of my treatment can be released to an authorized officer from MTBA upon request.
3. I will advise the event organisers if I have a specific medical condition that may affect my safety or the safety of others.
4. My name, results, photographs, video, audio recordings, multimedia or film likeness can be used for any legitimate purpose by MTBA, the event organiser, the sponsors, or assigns.
5. The consumption of alcohol and illicit drugs is prohibited during the event and that, to their discretion, MTBA and its officers, employees, coaches, volunteers, agents, contractors, and landholders can withdrawal my participation in any or all parts of the event if under the influence of alcohol and or illicit drugs.
6. That I will adhere to the Code of Conduct published by MTBA from time to time.

I hereby acknowledge that by registering for this activity I agree to the above assumption of risk, waiver of liability, standards, terms and conditions and shall adhere to all the policies at all times during the Event's start and finish dates.
I also acknowledge and agree that to assist the Event Organisers with the highest standards of safety and service in the delivery of the Event, I have disclosed, during online registration, all and any medical conditions, medications, injuries and impairments which may affect or adversely impact my participation and the running of the Event, I knowledge that this also applies to any additional attendees whom I am responsible for under the Additional attendees' requirement section of these conditions.

I hereby indemnify and hold harmless land managers, volunteers, Mountain Bike Australia Ltd. and Break the Boundary Inc., its officers, agents, contractors and sponsors from and against all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, actions and proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any injury, loss, death or damage sustained by me as a result of any omission of medical conditions, medications, injuries and impairments.

I declare that I am over 18 years of age at the time of completing this registration, and that if I am under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian is registering on my behalf.
